FIBA rules will apply except where the following By Laws make exceptions.
GENERAL : .
1(a). All senior players must be insured through A. M. B. A. Basketball Pty Ltd and pay the appropriate insurance fee prior to their first match. Insurance will be renewed on a yearly basis on the due date.
1(b). All matches will be under the control of A. M. B. A. Basketball Pty Ltd which is responsible for receiving entry forms for competitions, insurance fees, forfeit fees, and other fees set out by A. M. B. A. Basketball.
1(c). A. M. B. A. Basketball Pty Ltd is also responsible for making the draw, notifying teams of the draw and late changes and ensuring that competition rules are carried out.
1(d). If at any time during a game the referee or court supervisor suspects that a person is intoxicated or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the game will be stopped and the offending person removed from the stadium.
1(e). Players / Spectators will not swing or hang on the rings or damage A. M. B. A. Basketball Pty Ltd property. One month's automatic suspension will apply for swinging or hanging on the rings or causing damage to A.M.B.A. property.
1(f). Injuries must be reported to the court supervisor and the appropriate form filled out. This procedure must be followed otherwise the insurance company will have the right to decline the claim.
1(g). Any player who has been insured through A. M. B. A. Basketball Pty Ltd and has commenced playing in a competition accepts the rules governing the said competition.
1.( h). All players must be nominated on the official A. M. B. A. Basketball Pty Ltd team nomination form.
1(i). Any senior player entering the competition after the nomination form has been completed must be insured and submit the appropriate form before taking the court.
1(j). A. M. B. A. Basketball Pty Ltd is not obliged to accept nominations. Applications may be rejected in respect of individual teams or such limitations imposed as A. M. B. A. Basketball Pty Ltd sees fit.
1(k). Players/Teams must pay playing fee 5 min prior to the game commencing.
TIMING:
2(a) All games are to start on time as per draw or amended draw or as soon as possible thereafter.
2(b). Senior competitions will play two (2) twenty-minute halves. The first half will be a running clock which will not stop. No time outs or substitutions will be allowed in the last minute of the first half. During the second half the clock will stop for time outs and every whistle in the last minute of the game.
2(c). Junior competitions will play thirteen-minute halves. The first half will be a running clock which will not stop. No time outs or substitutions will be allowed in the last minute of the first half. During the second half the clock will stop for every whistle in the last minute of the game.
2(d). In the event of a draw in the semi finals or grand finals an extra five minutes will be played.
2(e) Time outs will be of 30 seconds duration in both halves.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
3(a) Substitutions may be taken at any dead ball situation.
UNIFORMS:
4(a). Teams with their own uniforms must all be the same colour and style and all must be numbered on the front and back. Players not wearing the correct uniform will not be permitted to play.
4(b). All players using uniforms supplied by A. M. B. A. Basketball Pty Ltd must wear a T shirt (with sleeves) under the singlet and must return the singlet immediately after the game (any singlets lost or deliberately damaged must be returned or paid for before the teams next game.)
4(c). Shoes must be of the correct type for use on the indoor playing surface.
Eligibility:
5(a). Players are not eligible to play in semi finals or grand finals unless they have played in nine games with the team in that current competition. A bye is not classed as a game. A forfeit may be classed as a game provided that the scoresheet records that the player attended the game as an eligible player. If a player has been injured during the season and can supply a doctors certificate to cover the appropriate period those games will be counted towards eligibility.
FORFEITS / FORFEIT FEES:
6(a) A team may commence a game with four (4) players that are registered to that team at the scheduled starting time, the clock will start if only three or less players are ready to start and the opposing team shall receive a penalty of two (2 ) points per minute or part thereof to a maximum of ten (10) minutes. If a team doesn't have four (4) players after ten (10) minutes a forfeit shall be declared and a forfeit fee imposed.
6(b). If both teams fail to appear with at least four (4) players after ten (10) minutes the game shall be declared a double forfeit and a forfeit fee imposed.
6(c). Any team that forfeits will not be awarded competition points.
6(d). Any team that forfeits shall pay a forfeit fine (the current Game Fee price) on top of their own game fee prior to its next match.
6(e). Teams forfeiting a semi final shall not be eligible to further participate in the finals series. A team giving notice that they cannot meet semi final commitments will be replaced in the finals series by the next placed team on the competition ladder.

7(b). Draws will be an acceptable result except in the finals series where five (5) minutes extra time will be played to obtain a result.
7(c). Where a scoresheet error is discovered at the time of recording, scores and / results may be altered by the scorer in consultation with the referee's or court supervisor to reflect the correct result. The scoresheet may not be altered after the referees have signed it.
7(d) In the event of two or more teams finishing on equal points at the conclusion of round games, placing will be decided on a count back firstly between the two teams, points for and against.
PENALTIES:
8(a) Penalties (see attached sheet) for breaches against the rules of conduct set out by F.I.B.A and
A. M. B. A. Basketball Pty Ltd shall be administered by the Court Supervisor and the duty referee's.
8(b). Appeals against breaches of these By Laws should be made in writing to the appropriate supervisor, within one week of notification of the penalty.
8(c) Any concerns regarding a referee, or scorer must be submitted in writing to the court supervisor.
A.M.B.A. Basketball Pty Ltd has the right to change the By Laws.
The court supervisor shall deal with any matters not specifically covered by these By Laws.
RULES FOR A.M.B.A. JUNIOR BASKETBALL COMPETITIONS
MODIFIED RULES FOR 8 AND UNDER
1. All the F.I.B.A. rules of Basketball apply except where indicated below.
2. All players must be suitably dressed to play, (T-shirt, shorts, sox and sports shoes)
3. Players must play at least Eight (8) games to be eligible for the finals.
4. Game times: 13 minute halves.
5. Team fouls are enforced in all of the junior age groups.
6. Teams may substitute or have a time out any time the ball is ‘Dead'. Please advise the scorer when you require a substitution.
7. Each team may have two (30 sec) time-outs per half, the clock does not stop in the first half. Junior competitions will play thirteen-minute halves. The first half will be a running clock which will not stop. No time outs or substitutions will be allowed in the last minute of the first half. During the second half the clock will stop for every whistle in the last minute of the game.
8. All teams are to shoot free throws from the Free Throw Line (13yrs & above) or from the bottom of the dotted line circle in the key. (8, 10 and 12 Years)
9. Players may play with one team only in an age group during the competition. This does not preclude younger players who wish to play with older friends or brothers from playing above their age group in other teams.
10. No player may participate in a game unless they are dressed in a playing top of similar color to the team's colors with a number on the front and back.
11. Ring height 13yrs to Open (10 ft) 10 & 12 yrs (8ft 6in) 8 yrs & under (7ft).
12. Cross Court rule enforced, (10yrs to open)
CONDUCT CODE PLUS SPECIAL CONDITIONS & PENALTIES
· All players must be fully financial members of the Academy before playing.
· Each team must provide a Team Supervisor. The game cannot commence without one.
· Harassment of players or officials (Referees, Scorers or Supervisors) will not be tolerated.
· Penalty: Spectators Immediate ejection from stadium.
· Players see penalty sheet.
PARENTS TO NOTE:
The Australian Mini Basketball Academy reserves the right to change or alter the draw at any given time.
Harassment of players & OFFICIALS will not be tolerated
